I launched Rhythm Festival because I believed festival-goers were getting a raw deal. Over the years I'd been to dozens of outdoor events and generally I was shocked by the way we were all being treated. Smelly toilets and the lack of any seating – eating over-cooked noodles on the hoof is an acquired skill I'd rather not have acquired! – to over-priced nasty burgers and lager bars, it invariably led to a pretty naff experience.
And the music! I was fed up having to endure a never-ending crop of "fashionable" bands who knew nothing about entertaining an audience and who, years later are gone and totally forgotten.
I knew all this could be improved on and so, in 2006, Rhythm Festival was born. Rhythm Festival is aimed at intelligent grown-ups and their families. People who appreciate good music and who want to have a great weekend away.
We hand-pick our caterers and insist that they charge their lowest festival prices. We turn down dozens of offers from Mr Whippy-style "ice cream" sellers in favour of quality ices, this year we're proud to have Norfolk Farmhouse Ice Creams. We have (usually!) hot showers, lots of toilets (including many that flush) and the very best bands on three stages. Plus comedy, lots for the kids and plenty to do after the bands finish.
I hope you can join us for Rhythm Festival 2010.
If you've already been, you'll know what to expect and if it's your first time I hope you'll be pleasantly surprised. An amazing 88% of people who've been to Rhythm Festival return.
I hope to see you in August.
